10 Foods That Can Still Be Eaten Past Their Expiry Dates

Meat:
If the meat is frozen, then it will have around a 50% longer shelf life.

Canned goods: 
If  Stored in a Dark Cool Area Canned goods do have 50% longer Shelf Life.

Eggs: 
If you have doubt over the eggs you have at home, then do egg float test. If the egg floats,its not edible but if it sinks then good to go with it irrespective of its expiry date.

Pasta
As we all know its a dry product and its hardness doesn't allow it to get spoiled. You can eat this as long as it doesn't give out any undesirable smell.

Bread: 
As long as you don't spot any mold, bread kept in the freezer  can be used past the expiration date.

Fresh fruits and vegetables: 
You need to manually check its appearance and smell.  Check if it's mushy, moldy or has an "off" smell
If no such signs, then you can go ahead with it.

Frozen food: 
Normally all Frozen products can be used long after the expiration date,except for meat which can be extended only for 50% shelf life.

Packaged greens. 
It's OK to eat the lettuce if it's wilting, just not decaying. Food safety expert Ted Labuza suggests soaking the lettuce in ice water for 10 minutes.

Dry goods (crackers, corn chips): 
Check if the chips or crackers are stale. If so try making them crispier in the toaster oven. But if they smell odd, throw them away.

Milk:
Labuza says pasteurized milk will keep 50% longer if you store it at a lower temperature.So try storing at the back of the fridge rather than the fridge door.
